Talent management has undergone many changes over the past few years with new insights into teams and organisations through the use of People Analytics. It is becoming increasingly important for organisations to get to grips with people analytics as it impacts key parts of the business including the areas of recruitment, performance evaluation, leadership, hiring, promotion, job and team design and compensation.
It may seem like a daunting perspective for many business' who are fearful to tread the waters of people analytics. However it is not an un-practised method to be afraid of.
ATD published in their study "The Value of Learning" that 64% of learning professionals claim improved use of data is allowing them to "better evaluate effectiveness of learning within their team"
Along with this is the endless supply of various support and products available, from a simple questionnaire to nitty gritty psychometric testing and 360 degree feedback.
In our e-book Kenneth M. Nowack, Ph.D. refers to 360 degree feedback as "one of the necessary conditions for successful behaviour initiation and change over time" with Josh Bersin referring to the market of people surveys and analytics to have gone off "Like an atomic bomb" recently in his article "The Geeks have arrived in HR"
Furthermore in HR matters this month Stephan Young's emphisis was on employee surveys and the use an organisation can get out of them. The organisation in question was that of Bayer who in fact conducted it's third global employee survey just last year. The results were a success as a tool in which leaders could implement to maximise team development with another survey planned for 2016. The point here being that people analytics are being utilised today and proving to have beneficial outcomes for enterprises.
It is clear that the concept of people surveys and analytics are increasingly becoming a business critical area. It seems vital therefore to take the step of investment in order for company progression in today's economic society.
